Q&A: what drugs are used to treat chronic vertigo?

Question by Jedi: what drugs are used to treat chronic vertigo?
What drugs do doctors give to treat vertigo? No other symptoms. Just chronic severe vertigo in an otherwise healthy normal adult.

Answer by Francie S
I have the stuff at home, don't remember the name of it, but it made me VERY sleepy. Interestingly though, I discovered kind of by accident two things that were causing my issues with virtigo. The first one was that I was dehydrated. When I was first given that information, I didn't believe it because i drink 7580 ounces of water every day and a body only looses 64 ounces a day. However, because I am also Type 2 diabetic, the water was not getting to my cells, allowing them to be hydrated. That meant the results were the same as not drinking enough water. Magnesium and potassium were suggested as a supplement and the issue was resolved in two days - no more virtigo.

However, I still did, occationally, have a very weird thing happen. It was like my vision would flip up and then back to normal really fast and the room would spin for just a split second. In May I had an emergency triple by-pass. I have not had that issue since then. I believe it was a lack of oxygen to the brain from blocked arteries that was causing the latter issue. So, get your cardio system checked out carefully as well.

Natural Remedies for Vertigo

Article by Jane Pelton

Experiencing dizziness and imbalance even at a steady and immobile position highly contributes to vertigo's symptoms. Looking for natural remedies for vertigo is one thing that you should work out with to prevent the many more symptoms that might make you uncomfortable and irritable. For this very reason, knowing some basic natural remedies for vertigo will be your guide to safely ease yourself of this disease.

Now before proceeding with the natural remedies for vertigo, you should know first the severity of your case. This is fully essential so you will know the right remedies to apply without getting any serious damage on your part. Be it that your case is mild, severe or chronic, knowing the extremities of what you are feeling will also help you to choose the right treatment that you can use. So to start, here are some lists of the natural remedies for vertigo that you can easily find in your home or inexpensively purchase in the market.

Natural remedies for Vertigo # 1: Gingko biloba and ginger

If you think this herb and bulb can only be used as a food condiment, then you might think again. Gingko biloba naturally treats vertigo by enhancing blood flow into the brain which is good for those who have nerve and brain causes of the disease. Ginger on the other hand can be well taken during an attack of the disease to set off further symptoms such as vomiting and severe nausea within minutes. Natural remedies for Vertigo # 2: Focusing your attention Most people who have vertigo do not know it but at the first signs of nausea while standing in one place or just sitting will be avoided by focusing on a fixed pint which can be imaginary; meaning you have no particular thing that you are looking about just like the case of being in a "daydream". Focusing triggers brain signals to maintain its balance thus preventing the dizziness.

Natural remedies for Vertigo # 3: Eat healthy; live well

Eating protein rich foods, vitamin and mineral rich diets helps in fighting off vertigo. Exercising daily also maintains the body's balance naturally helping you more to avoid unlikely setbacks of vertigo symptoms.

Natural remedies for Vertigo # 4: Homeopathic medicines

When mild or chronic cases cannot be brought down to using these first three treatments, turning on to homeopathic remedies for vertigo just like that of Vertifree from Native Remedies is one effective way to do it. Homeopathic treatments allows you to have the best alternative for prescript drugs so you can take such medicines without any ado of harmful side effects for they are normally made up of natural ingredients.

Question by Jen: Did I just experience Vertigo?
I know this will sound silly...but I was sitting a minute ago, and all of a sudden, I started seeing the computer just like Jimmy Stewart saw the case of stairs in the movie, Vertigo. It was like a zoom in and zoom out motion, I kinda felt dizzy afterwards...is that vertigo? I kinda felt my head/the corner of my eye near my nose bridge throb. What could it be?

The reason the Nintendo 3DS, can give you vertigo and dizziness.

Article by Dr Matthew D.Holmes

Maybe you have got a new Nintendo 3DS just to feel vertigo or dizziness with using it? You are certainly not the only one. Dizziness and vertigo right after looking at 3D entertainment is a recognised difficulty within console companies along with health care professionals who handle vertigo just like myself. How can you tell if you're more likely to experience difficulty with the Nintendo 3DS and what might you do about that?

All of it derives from a problem referred to as visual mismatch. Your sense of balance utilises feedback through your eyes (vision), ears along with your body (proprioception). Providing you are receiving data out of no less than two of these three you feel well-balanced. Nonetheless there are plenty of people who have overt or disguised problems of your ears and / or proprioception that renders 1 of the three absent. This makes them constantly dependent upon the visual system plus the other left over input.

Most can manage okay with just two systems, however, if they are really forced to count on one system they will encounter difficulties. This is what takes place with the Nintendo 3DS. Generating the 3D image uses a distortion of the way your brain typically puts together a picture. People who have normal balance systems can handle this, however, if you happen to be depending on the visual system to keep you well-balanced, you may be more inclined to have difficulties.

How is it possible to determine if it's likely you'll suffer from vertigo or dizziness on watching the Nintendo 3DS? Start by just asking yourself these questions:

Have you got a pre-existing stability issue?Have you ever been afflicted by vertigo or dizziness before? Will you experience dizziness or disorientation with quick scenes on television or in the movie theater? Can you feel dizziness or perhaps disorientation during scenarios with lots of activity near you just like shopping malls/centres or supermarkets?Do you experience dizziness or possibly disorientation due to altitudes or even in circumstances in which the thing you're focusing on far from you?I would predict the more of these you responded yes to, the greater your chances are to be prone to vertigo and dizziness when using the Nintendo 3DS. Doesn't necessarily absolutely suggest you will, but even so it can be really worth trying it out out at a friend's house to start with before heading for the retail outlet and handing over your hard earned money.

In case you have already obtained a Nintendo 3DS and you are now suffering vertigo or dizziness. You might need to stop making use of it til you have fixed any hidden stability troubles. Vestibular treatment exercise routines probably will be essential but make sure you obtain an examination by a vestibular therapy practitioner or healthcare provider.

What is the best treatment for benign positional vertigo? How long does it normally last?

Question by lpgawnab2004: What is the best treatment for benign positional vertigo? How long does it normally last?

Best answer:

Answer by Lissacal
BPPV has often been described as "self-limiting" because symptoms often subside or disappear within six months of onset. Symptoms tend to wax and wane. Motion sickness medications are sometimes helpful in controlling the nausea associated with BPPV but are otherwise rarely beneficial. However, various kinds of physical maneuvers and exercises have proved effective. Three varieties of conservative treatment, which involve exercises, and a treatment that involves surgery are described in the next sections.

Use this maneuver to treat your Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). Notice the pillow behind the shoulders. Your head must not lie on the pillow. this shouldnt be done on a regular basis. this should be done only once. Do this before sleeping. then after doing this, you have to sleep on an inclined position to keep the gravity down. what i did was i slept on 2 thick pillows to keep my head as vertical as possible. then in the morning, try to keep your head steady. avoid bowing down or leaning back. Keep your head vertically positioned for the next 24hours right after you do this Epley maneuver. If you fail to keep your head vertically, it is most likely your BPPV wont be treated. and you have to do this maneuver again. This maneauver should be done once. worse case scenario is you do it more than once until you get really well. for me, i did this twice. so it wasnt easy. but after that i still felt drowzy for after a week. then all became normal.

Homeopathic Cures for Tinnitus - Choosing the Right Plan

Article by Alvin Hopkinson

Exasperating noises in the ears such as hooping, buzzing, or ringing can be sporadic or incessant. This situation can sometimes be associated with fractional hearing loss, and can certainly disturb and annoy you.

Tinnitus can go along with some conditions connected to the nervous system and the ears, and several of these have to be treated and evaluated by a doctor. By using homeopathic cures for tinnitus, the nuisance and anxiety brought by it are often reduced.

Scientific study has not yet revealed the effectiveness of these homeopathic substances although in general, they are not identified to cause grave side effects.

However, labels should be cautiously checked by consumers because homeopathic products can have ingredients causing allergic reactions if not diluted well. Also, seeking advice from a professional healthcare provider is highly suggested before using any new treatment plan.

If you are suffering from these infuriating sounds, you may opt to try any of these homeopathic cures for tinnitus.

1. Carbo vegetabilis: This cure is frequently given to tinnitus patients with flu coupled with nausea and vertigo. At night, symptoms may worsen and the person may be constantly feeling cold, but normally will yearn for fresh air. This remedy is also helpful for prolonged illness or dawdling recovery.

2. Chininum sulphuricum: A need for this remedy is suggested when the person's hearing gets harmed due to loud buzzing, roaring, and ringing sounds. When tinnitus worsens, the patient may experience chills and vertigo.

3. Calcarea carbonica: This remedy is indicated to tinnitus patients with or without vertigo. The person may have crackling and pulsing vibrations in the ears or hearing troubles. Patients who are advised for this kind of remedy are normally cold, easily exhausted, hunger for sweets, and feel worried when ill.

4. Lycopodium: For persons who hear humming and roaring sounds in both ears, the use of Lycopodium is recommended. Those who need this treatment are usually prone to ear infection with foul discharge, urinary tract problems, or chronic digestive difficulties.

5. Cinchona officinalis: Often referred as China, this treatment plan is usually effective to tinnitus patients who are weak, nervous, and extra sensitive to outside noise. China is often suggested to those who have lost fluids due to diarrhea, profuse sweating, vomiting, or blood loss.

6. Natrum salicylicum: When buzzing in the ears seems dull and low, this remedy may be favorable. It may also involve vertigo, hearing loss associated to bone conduction, and even nerve interference. Natrum salicylicum is also best for those having Menier's Disease or those with tinnitus caused by consuming Aspirin group of drugs.

7. Graphites: A person having tinnitus associated with deafness may be cured using this remedy. Sounds like clicks and hiss are normally heard by the ears. Those who require this kind of remedy may also experience constipation, cracking skin outbreak, and reduced concentration.

A lot of homeopathic experts recommend that treatments should be done by taking one dose and wait for any reactions. Continuously wait and allow the remedy to work if improvement is visible. If not, try another dose.

The regularity of dosage differs with the condition and the patient. Also bear in mind that homeopathic cures for tinnitus may take some time before taking effect. Just try to avoid being stressed and frustrated in order not to aggravate the condition.

Causes Of Vertigo - What You Need To Know

Article by Choying Neo

Vertigo is known as a state where one experiences dizziness. It can be characterized by a feeling of unstoppable merry go round or even a feeling of movement in space. The causes of vertigo are usually related to an infection of the inner ear and respiratory problems. Although vertigo is a form of dizziness, not all kinds of dizziness are vertigo.

So what makes vertigo any different from normal dizziness? Well, vertigo is more severe and is a health condition that can lead to more serious problems. It is often characterized by a form of hallucination of movements. One may feel nausea, imbalanced and a feeling of falling in space. If affected with vertigo, one feels as if the surroundings are moving and swirling. The symptoms of vertigo may last from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the severity.

Some people suffer from what is known as benign positional vertigo, which can lead to hear loss if left untreated. Benign positional vertigo is one of the most common causes of vertigo. As this is a condition of the inner ear, it seems that a blow to the head or an upper respiratory infection could be responsible for it. When this happens, the inner ear's structures are affected and this causes vertigo especially when there is movement of the head like turning in bed. The form of vertigo attack usually lasts about 30-60 seconds.

Other causes of vertigo can be from migraine, multiple sclerosis and injuries to the neck. Another cause is the inflammation of the upper respiratory system that leads to a disorder of the inner ear.

While there is no standard treatment for vertigo, it can be be minimized and controlled by Vestibular rehabilitation therapy. The therapy helps to restore the normal activity of the vestibular system and therefore assist in diminishing dizziness and the feeling of imbalance. Other treatments could be simply stopping medications that cause vertigo.

Have you been feeling dizzy lately? Are you having Vertigo? Find out what are the Symptoms and Causes Of Vertigo to get help.

Ask your Doctor about Meniere's syndrome. It is a problem with your inner ear pressure. He will send you for an exam, you will be induced vertigo, so they can read your eyes.

Also, ask your Doctor about an MRI of your brain just to make sure nothing strange is there.

I was diagnosed with Meniere's. Then a second opinion and after the test showed up that it was just a virus.

You do not want ot have Meniere's because eventually you will lose your hearing.

Good Luck!

Sounds like the cold could be the culprit. You could be starting an ear infection, that can most definitely throw you off. I have vertigo also. It just shows up when it wants to. I have maybe 3 bad days out of the year. My migraines also cause me to get dizzy. Many factors. I would go see a doctor to make sure it isn't an ear infection. They can give you meds for it to help you.

The Douglas SBD Dauntless was easily the most famous US Navy bomber of World War II, and possibly the most important dive bomber flown by any combatant during World War II. At the outbreak of World War II, the Slow But Deadly Dauntless was considered by many to be obsolete. The Dauntless was the only US aircraft to participate in all five Naval engagements that were fought exclusively between aircraft carriers, and despite having been marked for retirement even before the war began, the Dauntless sunk more enemy shipping during 1942 than all other aircraft combined. Q&A: Woke up with Vertigo, nausea and Diarrhea?

Question by lushustothecore: Woke up with Vertigo, nausea and Diarrhea?
I woke up with what my question says. I got in a car accident 5 years ago, had benign positional vertigo for about a year and that was the last time i got vertigo. This morning i woke up and have been sick all day with vertigo, nausea and diarrhea. Are these related? What can cause this? How do i get rid of it?

Answer by Nicolus
Get yourself checked.

If it is indeed vertigo, Medications such as Benadryl or Valium may either be taken orally, with a skin patch or given through an IV. If vertigo is caused as a result of a bacterial infection of the middle ear, antibiotics may be administered. More severe episodes of vertigo may also require surgery.

Natural remedies provide excellent symptomatic relief for dizziness and nausea associated with vertigo and improve inner ear balance. Herbal remedies containing homeopathic ingredients may be taken at the first sign of symptoms and are safe to use for people of all ages.

Homeopathic ingredients such as Cocculus indicus, Lobelia inflata and Gelsemium have proven to highly effective in relieving the symptoms of dizziness, weakness, fainting, fatigue, headaches and emotional upsets. In addition, Bryonia alba may be beneficial for headaches, and for individuals who perspire where the slightest movement may be disturbing.

Some Good Exercises For Vertigo

Article by Tony McGuigano

First and foremost, the myth about Vertigo has to be busted. Vertigo is not the other name of dizziness. Dizziness and vertigo are entirely different. Vertigo is a condition where one feels a spinning sensation even when stationary. This is associated with problems of the inner ear and sometimes, vision problems. It could get very serious if left untreated. Medication is not the only cure. A much safer way to treat vertigo is through vertigo exercises. There are many simple vertigo exercises that one could carry out. But it is best to take a professional's advice before practising anything.

Firstly, the reason behind vertigo must be figured out. There are many movements that may trigger vertigo such as sleep positions, craning your neck to look up, et cetera. One must avoid doing all these and try to make sure that their sleeping positions aren't very stressful. One of the simplest vertigo exercises is as follows:

- Sit upright on your bed, feet to the floor.- Close your eyes and jerk yourself to one side of the bed so that that side is flat on the bed now.- Tilt your head upwards and let the vertigo pass.- Come back to your sitting position.- Repeat the second, third and fourth steps for the other side of the body.

This has to be done 5 times each in the morning and evening until you stop experiencing vertigo.

One has to stay calm and composed to ward off vertigo. Vertigo causes too much discomfort that can be relieved by following some more vertigo exercises like the one mentioned next:

- Loosen up. Ease your eyes and muscles of the tension.- Stand up. (This is to balance your body so that you can stand in one position without feeling the spinning sensation for about a minute or two.)- Sway your body from both sides, maintaining you balance. Don't do this frequently if the attack keeps going out of control.- Turn 360 degrees, maintaining your balance still.- Try walking in a straight line. (This could be very difficult for vertigo sufferers as even those who don't suffer from vertigo face dizziness after doing this).

Again, taking the doctor's advice before starting any vertigo exercises is recommended. If nausea and vomiting prevail, exercises must be stopped and the doctor must be consulted for medication to curb the nausea.

These vertigo exercises are very effective and helpful but one must be sure to stay calm at all time. Take a slow start because many exercises can cause nausea and/or vomiting.

Q&A: Light headed?

Question by gmakes3: Light headed?
I've had a couple of episodes where the room is spinning (just like bed spins) when I open my eyes in the morning but before I sit up. It becomes a slight dizziness or light headedness after I sit up. I had a really bad episode of spinning that caused me to vomit all day. My doctor said it was Labrynthitis (sp?) which is a temporary inner ear disease and gave me an antibiotic. It went away after a few days. But it has been a couple of days since I finished the antibiotic and I am light headed A LOT. I especially feel it if I change my focus: for instance looking from the keyboard to the computer screen. I noticed that I anm making more typing errors than usual too. I have a mild headache around my eyes and cheek bones. I obviously need to go to the doctor again but should I see some kind of specialist? What type of specialist? I am 44y/o and do not drink/drugs.
It is worse when I sit still, better when I am moving. WEIRD!

I would say you have vertigo, but I am not your doc. Make your appointment, and ask him/her about vertigo. It is common.

Vertigo occurs when there is conflict between the signals sent to the brain by various balance- and position-sensing systems of the body. Your brain uses input from four sensory systems to maintain your sense of balance and orientation to your surroundings.

Vision provides information about your position and motion in relationship to the rest of the world. This is an important part of the balance mechanism and often overrides information from the other balance-sensing systems.
Sensory nerves in your joints allow your brain to keep track of the position of your legs, arms, and torso. Your body is then automatically able to make tiny changes in posture that help you maintain your balance (proprioception).
Skin pressure sensation provides information about your body's position and motion in relationship to gravity.
A portion of the inner ear, called the labyrinth, which includes the semicircular canals, contains specialized cells that detect motion and changes in position. Injury to or diseases of the inner ear can send false signals to the brain indicating that the balance mechanism of the inner ear (labyrinth) detects motion. If these false signals conflict with signals from the other balance and positioning centers of the body, vertigo may occur.
Common causes of vertigo include:

Inner ear disorders, such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), Ménière's disease, vestibular neuronitis, or labyrinthitis.
Injury to the ear or head.
Migraine headaches, which are painful, debilitating headaches that often occur with vertigo, nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light, noise, and smell.
Decreased blood flow through the arteries that supply blood to the base of the brain (vertebrobasilar insufficiency).
Less common causes of vertigo include:

A noncancerous growth in the space behind the eardrum (cholesteatoma).
Brain tumors and cancer that has traveled from another part of the body (metastatic).
Immediate medical attention is required if vertigo occurs suddenly with loss of function. Vertigo that occurs with loss of function in one area of the body can indicate a problem within the brain, such as a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA).

Alcohol and many prescription and nonprescription medications can cause lightheadedness or vertigo. These problems may develop from:

Taking too much of a medication (overmedication).
Alcohol and medication interactions. This is a problem, especially for older adults, who may take many medications at the same time.
Misusing or abusing a medication or alcohol.
Drug intoxication or the effects of withdrawal.
Although dizziness can occur in people of any age, it is more common among older adults. A fear of dizziness can cause older adults to limit their physical and social activities. Dizziness can also lead to falls and other injuries.

Q&A: How long do people normally have viral labyrinthitis vertigo?

Question by PrincessB: How long do people normally have viral labyrinthitis vertigo?
I have had that or the BPPV for the past 6 days. I vomited repeatedly for the first two days. My doctor prescribed me amoxicillin and meclizine...but I am not feeling any better. I still feel dizzy (like the room is spinning around me) and if i try to look at an object, it looks like it is moving; my balance is off, I can now slightly walk around my apartment whereas at the beginning I had to get my husband to help me move around. I have already missed 4 days of work due to this...I can't drive and the medicine is blurring my vision...

Any one else had this problem? What did you do? Please help...

They thght I had labrynthitis several yrs ago but it turned out to be something else. I'm amazed you have been out of bed at all! With me it was MS but vertigo is vertigo no matter what is causing it, and it's nasty! I called my particular experience - Vertigo From Hell! I'm sure you feel the same about yours. Your vision problems cld also be caused by the labrynthitis. I have spoken with ppl who had labrynthitis & besides having a very bad week of it, it lasted about 2 wks & then they had the odd moment of dizziness or vertigo for a wk or 2 after. So you're just about nearing the end of it. Oh you cld try taking a B complex with your meclizine. It might make all the difference. My pharamcist told me to do this when I have trouble with vertigo. It certainly can't cause you any harm. I hope this helps. I really do feel for you.

What Is Vertigo?

Article by Christian Goodman

Vertigo is considered to be a complicated disease. Vertigo means spinning or revolving. This name has been derived from latin.

The people who are affected by vertigo feel that everything around them keeps moving. Even when standing still the person who is affected by vertigo feel that they are moving.

The inner part of the ear is very much important for humans and mammals to maintain the balance while walking and standing, it doesn't mean if it's two legs or four legs. The vestibular factor in the inner ear is considered to be maintaining the balance of the body.

The person who are affected by vertigo will have problem when walking and also standing. The other effects of vertigo is vomiting and nausea.

The major reason for vertigo is considered to be benign paroxysmal position vertigo and vestibular headache. We shall see them here:

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo:

In labyrinth the crystals of calcium is present. They do not move and these crystals are in fixed position. Labyrinth is situated in the interior part of the ear

What happens here with the affected person is that these crystals gets disturbed and moves to semicircular canals. But the regular location for these crystals is in utricle. Basically, the posterior canal is far more affected to this situation.

When a person have benign paroxysmal positional vertigo the eyes of the person rotate in the direction of the damaged ear. Apart from this dizziness, vertigo, visual defect are also some of the major symptoms.

Canlithiasis means that the fluid in the inner ear of the person gets dislocated. This reveals how severe is the condition

Vertigo itself forms to be a reason here. Vestibular migraine is also the major reason for the cause of vertigo.

Thus, here the main problem is not vertigo it is the migraine. But the person who is affected decides that he is affected by vertigo. The increase of vertigo due to migraine is the real severe fact in this.

A latest research has identified a connection between migraine and vertigo. People who have unidentified vertigo have 2.5 times more chance to succumb to migraine.

More than this, they will also have symptoms of dizziness when having migraine pains. The other minimum causes are vestibular neuritis and meniere's problem.

A person gets short term effect of vertigo when he consumes huge quantity of alcohol.

Kinds of vertigo

Vertigo are considered to be two types. They are identified based on the location it affects in the working of vestibular pathway. Normally, the two different kinds are peripheral and central.

Peripheral pathway:

This is also known as vestibular system. Peripheral type of vertigo is a kind that affects the working of the inner part of the ear.

Benign paroxysmal positional dysfunction is considered to be the regular reason for this kind of vertigo. Superior canal dehiscence syndrome, labyrinths and visual vertigo are considered to be the other reasons.

And also when a person's skull gets injured that may lead to vertigo too. Vertigo is also caused by bacteria that grows due to cold and cough.

Central Vertigo:

Whereas, central vertigo is linked with a neurological system of our body. This occurs due to the damage in the brain and not due to the problem with inner ear.

As this does not involve the interior part of the ear, central vertigo is not as severe as the other kind of vertigo. It may result in loud less speech, not able to speak clearly and irregular movement of eyes are due to central vertigo.

Heavy sweating, not able to walk steady and excessive vomiting are due to the result of vertigo. When vertigo is not given due care with treatment it may lead to irreparable damage to the nervous system of our body.

I believe you meant to say VITILIGO:

Vitiligo is a chronic relatively common dermatologic disorder that causes depigmentation in patches of skin. It occurs when the melanocytes, the cells responsible for skin pigmentation, die or are unable to function. The precise pathogenesis, or cause, of vitiligo is complex and not yet fully understood. There is some evidence suggesting it is caused by a combination of autoimmune, genetic, and environmental factors. The population incidence worldwide is considered to be between 1% and 2%[citation needed]. Non-segmental vitiligo has a greater prevalence than the disorder's other form(s).

Because VERTIGO is:

a sensation of whirling and loss of balance, associated particularly with looking down from a great height, or caused by disease affecting the inner ear or the vestibular nerve; giddiness.

NOTE: As you can see, Vitiligo is relatively common.

Hope this helps, you. Enjoy your day.

GT Bicycles

Article by jekky

HistoryGT Bicycles was founded in 1979 by Gary Turner, a welding engineer and Richard long, a bike shop owner. Originally formed as a manufacturer of BMX bicycles, the company grew to become one of the world's largest manufacturers of BMX, mountain and leisure bicycles.[citation needed]In the 1970s, Turner's son began participating in the then fledgling sport of bicycle motocross (BMX). Noticing that the bikes were fragile and heavy, Turner began manufacturing frames for his son. Due to his experience in the drag racing industry which had been utilising chro-moly in frame and chassis manufacturing, Turner began utilizing the tubing in BMX design. Turner's frames became popular throughout southern California and, as a result, he began manufacturing the frames for other racers. In 1974, Richard Long, a bike shop owner noticed Turner's frames gaining popularity. Long approached Turner, asking him if he could act as a retailer for GT Bicycles. Turner agreed, leading to the business partnership. When to See Your Ear, Nose and Throat Physician

Article by Alice shown

Seeing an ear, nose and throat specialist is critical, since these three organs perform some of the most vital functions. These organs are 'mutually exclusive' and responsible for balancing, smelling, swallowing, eating, hearing and speaking. Although these three organs have different functions and exist individually, a slight problem in one can be unsettling to the others. It is for this reason that ENT specialists have come to be essential in identifying the delicate interconnectivity between the three organs.

Although most people relate ENT or 'otolaryngology' with the treatment of ear infections, sinuses, hearing loss, vision problems or speech, the study of ENT research also includes such conditions as dizziness, vertigo, nausea or head/neck cancer.

Symptoms That Confuse People

Symptoms like dizziness, nausea or vertigo, although common symptoms of ENT complications, may not be the result of any problem in the ear, nose or throat. Instead, they could be the result of certain motion patterns, lying positions, reading or even the gaming environment. In such cases, ENT specialists find it difficult to diagnose the problem in the absence of a fully disclosed patient history and background. Therefore, people visiting ENT specialists should always explain the specific situations that triggered the complication.

Some Remedies for ENT Complications

ENT complications such as motion sickness or vertigo can sometimes be treated by herbal supplements or over the counter or prescription drugs. Some of these include:

* Ginger: This is one of the best home remedies. Simply chew it raw or suck on ginger lozenges.

* Sea bands: Wearing a sea band around the wrist may help. Sea bands are known to use the principles of acupuncture to assist in stopping the nerve signals to the brain that induce the symptom of nausea. These bands may also be effective to treat seasickness.

* Promethazine. This is one of the best drugs for motion sickness and the effect lasts for as long as 8 hours. Unfortunately, Promethazine has the undesirable side effect of drowsiness.

* Scopolamine patches: These adhesive patches can be placed on the forearm. They function by releasing small doses of scopolamine, which is known to counter motion sickness. However, it is also known for its purgative effect.

* Zofran: An anti-nausea drug, Zofran is known to stop vomiting. However, it does not mitigate sickness or the feeling of disorientation. Side effects may include dry mouth, blurring of vision and drowsiness.

Alternatively, there are herbal remedies that are known to have helped many travelers and pregnant women suffering from nausea, motion sickness, dizziness and vertigo. For the most comprehensive information on safe herbal remedies, visit http://www.dizzystop.com/ today.
